For years I have struggled with what I was good at. I also needed something to help me cope with PTSD and depression. Aside from my unwavering faith in God and my beautiful wife and children, I needed something that required precision and something that allowed me to work with my hands.
That’s when God showed me forging and awoke this passion within me. I went out and got an anvil, a dual burner gas force, hammers, tongs, sanders and grinders. I wanted to do something challenging, but rewarding.
I began with forging simple things like random shapes with small pieces of rebar. Then, I stumbled upon railroad spikes and started learning everything I could about their chemical makeup, how to forge them, techniques in transforming them into blades. I then figured out what worked best for me and my style. And the rest, as they say, is history.
